Proceeds from ticket sales go directly to DESC, and their programs to end homelessness. This year’s Gimme Shelter will feature performances by The Maldives, Lazy Susan, The Young Evils, Betsy Olson, Davidson Hart Kingsbery, The Purrs, and, of course, The Dusty 45s.  Mayor Mike McGinn will be attending and giving remarks, while The Dusty 45s’ own Billy Joe Huels will serve as the event emcee once again.

Doors open at 7 pm. The Dusty 45s will kick off the show at 8 pm sharp!

What a year The Dusty 45s had! 2011 was huge! They went on tour with the legendary Wanda Jackson, and super star Adele, hitting (sold out!) shows in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles, to name a few. Then, they rocked the Northwest all summer long, playing festivals and outdoor events, before taking off to the East Coast for their yearly jaunt to Nantucket. Ending the year in style, the band played with Wanda Jackson again on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles.

Starting 2012 off right, once again, the band is partnering with DESC for the fourth year in a row for the annual Gimme Shelter Benefit concert at The Showbox at the Market on Friday, February 3rd. This year’s Gimme Shelter will feature performances by The Maldives, Lazy Susan, The Young Evils, Betsy Olson, Davidson Hart Kingsbery, The Purrs, and, of course, The Dusty 45s. Hundreds of music fans and DESC supporters braved the cold weather and filled The Showbox at the Market for a good cause. With the help of 10 incredibly talented bands, The Stranger News Editor Dominic Holden, and our own Billy Joe Huels serving as Emcee, more than $20,000 was raised for DESC’s programs to end homelessness.

Thank you to all the bands who donated their performances: Zoe Muth, Kristen Ward, Massy Ferguson, Star Anna and The Laughing Dogs, Mark Pickerel, Kasey Anderson and The Honkies, and Tom Bennett & The Rolling Blackouts.

This year’s Gimme Shelter event will be bigger than ever, as ten bands unite to end homelessness. The concert will be hosted by The Dusty 45s’ own Billy Joe Huels, and will include performances by The Dusty 45s, Zoe Muth, Vince Mira, Kristen Ward, Massy Ferguson, Star Anna and The Laughing Dogs, Rachel Flotard and Rusty Willoughby, Mark Pickerel, Kasey Anderson and The Honkies, and Tom Bennett & The Rolling Blackouts.

DESC’s mission is to shelter and house Seattle’s most vulnerable homeless adults, particularly those with serious mental and addictive illnesses. Through partnerships and an integrated array of comprehensive services, treatment, and housing, DESC serves over 7,000 people annually. DESC is vital organization in the Seattle community. The Huels family and The Dusty 45s are proud to be associated with their valuable work.

One of the highlights of the tour was at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston. The band shared the night with fellow northwest roots rockers, Stone Gossard and Vince Mira. Read the great review here!
