A major shout out of gratitude to all those who attended the 3rd annual Gimme Shelter concert, benefiting the important work of DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center), on February 24th!!! Hundreds of music fans and DESC supporters braved the cold weather and filled The Showbox at the Market for a good cause. With the help of 10 incredibly talented bands, The Stranger News Editor Dominic Holden, and our own Billy Joe Huels serving as Emcee, more than $20,000 was raised for DESC’s programs to end homelessness.

Thank you to all the bands who donated their performances: Zoe Muth, Kristen Ward, Massy Ferguson, Star Anna and The Laughing Dogs, Mark Pickerel, Kasey Anderson and The Honkies, and Tom Bennett & The Rolling Blackouts.

The Dusty 45s Team Up with DESC for the 3rd Annual Gimme Shelter Benefit Concert!

The Dusty 45s are proud to partner with DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) once again for the 3rd annual Gimme Shelter benefit concert on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at The Showbox at The Market at 7:30 pm.

This year’s Gimme Shelter event will be bigger than ever, as ten bands unite to end homelessness. The concert will be hosted by The Dusty 45s’ own Billy Joe Huels, and will include performances by The Dusty 45s, Zoe Muth, Vince Mira, Kristen Ward, Massy Ferguson, Star Anna and The Laughing Dogs, Rachel Flotard and Rusty Willoughby, Mark Pickerel, Kasey Anderson and The Honkies, and Tom Bennett & The Rolling Blackouts.

DESC’s mission is to shelter and house Seattle’s most vulnerable homeless adults, particularly those with serious mental and addictive illnesses. Through partnerships and an integrated array of comprehensive services, treatment, and housing, DESC serves over 7,000 people annually. DESC is vital organization in the Seattle community. The Huels family and The Dusty 45s are proud to be associated with their valuable work.

Advance tickets for Gimme Shelter are available here or in person at The Showbox, Easy Street Records, and Sonic Boom Records for $15. Tickets at the door are $18. Proceeds from ticket sales go directly to DESC.

Noise for the Needy June 11-14

Its that time of year for the very special Noise for the Needy Festival! Noise for the Needy is a Seattle based non-profit organization that raises money for charitable causes through the production of live music shows, Proceeds proceeds will be donated to Urban Rest Stop, an organization that provides a clean, safe and welcoming facility where homeless individuals and families can come and use restrooms, shower and laundry facilities in Seattle at no cost to patrons.

The Dusty 45s will be playing a show at Nectar Lounge on June 14th in support of the Noise for the Needy Festival. Playing along with The Dusty 45s will be The Maldives, Massy Ferguson, and Amateur Radio Operator. This will surely be a rockin’ show for a wonderful cause. Come out and show your support for local music and a local organization doing good in the community!
